Omega-3 fatty acids fulfil a variety of tasks in the body. These include the function of brain cells and eyes, as well as the regulation of inflammation in the body. The discovery of resolvins, maresins and protectins is relatively new in research. These are highly developed omega-3 fatty acids that act as messenger substances to end inflammation.
Our cells produce so-called PRMs (pro-resolvin mediators) or SPMs (specialised pro-resolvin mediators) from EPA and DHA, the precursors of resolvins, maresins and protectins. PRMs are also omega-3 fatty acids and have names such as 18-HEPE, 17-HDHA, 14-HDHA.
They are hardly present in normal fish oils. However, we have found a manufacturer that offers a fish oil with a high PRM content - a quite new development.
With Resolvix, we are now offering a fish oil that contains a particularly high proportion of these PRMs for the first time. Namely 500 µg PRM per capsule. This means that 1000 µg PRM/SPM are already contained in two of these capsules.
More good news: the current batch even contains 723 ug PRM per capsule (together with 396 mg DHA and 352 mg EPA). This means that in many cases only one capsule can be taken daily instead of two.
