GG (geranylgeraniol) is a fundamental building block of life that is active in all cells of all higher organisms and plays a role in the production of the most basic functions.
GG is involved in biological processes related to Coenzyme Q10, vitamin K2, mitochondria, muskle buildup and cellular function.
This works a treat for 20-year-olds. With increasing age, certain endogenous processes may decline; GG is discussed in connection with pathways such as CoQ10 metabolism. Certain medications, including cholesterol-lowering drugs, affect metabolic pathways that are also associated with GG.
GG (geranylgeraniol) can also be obtained from food. It is found in many foods, but only in very small quantities (~1 mg/100 g). However, there is a rainforest plant (Bixa orellana) that contains a thousand times that amount. An extract of Bixa orellana with a very high GG content has been available for a few years now.

• Geranylgeraniol (GG) has nothing to do with the flower geranium. In fact, it is present in all the cells of all multicellular organisms.
• This plant is named Orellana after a conquistador who was the first to sail the full length of the Amazon in 1542. There he met indigenous people who cultivated this plant, used it daily and even exported it.
